Kenney's Pest Control

Ants are social insects that live in colonies which may contain thousands of workers.  There are about 700 ant species in the U.S. but only about 25 species infest homes.  These pest ants are usually divided into two groups: wall-nesters and ground-nesters.  Most small ants are considered "nuisance pests" but they contaminate food and can even cause health problems. Common small ants range from pin-head size to about inch.  Colors range from all black to reddish-brown to pale reddish-yellow.  Ants enter buildings through small cracks & crevices and often follow pipe runs.  They feed on just about anything.  Some prefer to sweets while others go after grease & meats.

Some ant species, such as the tiny Pharaoh ant, can be extremely difficult to eliminate.  A very specific treatment plan is required to avoid sub-dividing their colony. Caution: Avoid using ant spray. It will only make the situation worse!
